“ Lopez’ debut belongs on this year’s top ten list” Jim Santella- CADENCE MAGAZINE BIO About Jeff Lopez
I was born and raised in the big Apple. The first instrument I wanted to play were the drums. That got a big no from mom and dad., but later on I picked up my brothers bass and begin to practice rock tunes that i liked listening to. I was a quick learner and by my last year in High School I knew I wanted to be involved with music.

I was accepted at Berklee College of Music and earned a Bachelors in Jazz Performance and went on to Manhattan School of Music for Graduate studies in Jazz Performance.

Throughout the years I have performed with numerous musicians that I have admired and learned much. A short list of people I have shared that stage with are: Phil Woods, Toots Thielmans, Kenny Werner, Dave Douglas, Craig Handy, Rick Margitza, Ted Curson and Bernard Purdie. I have also performed along side some great Orchestras such as Boston Pops, Baltimore pops. the National Symphony, Detroit Symphony.
I even had the pleasure of performing at Carnegie Hall.
The recent years I have been focusing on composition. In 1997 I recorded my first CD of original compositions. the musicians I used were first rate: Craig Handy-sax, Joel Frahm-Sax, Uri Caine-Piano, Tom Guarna- Guitar and Rodney Holmes- Drums. It is an excellent CD that received great reviews. It is available at www.cdbaby.com
My recent project has been focused on recording my original compositions scored for big band.http://www.cdbaby.comshapeimage_4_link_0
